The Opera House is an architectural gem from the inside – with its mainly oak interior – and out, overlooking the Oslo fjord. The building appears to rise from the water and you can walk on its roof all year round to enjoy the panoramic view. Located in the area Bjørvika, you also have a great view of the modern building group that is also known as Bar code, because from afar it resembles a bar code. The Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta designed the Opera House and received several awards for its work. Apart from the rich and varied program of The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet that can be enjoyed here, guided tours of the building are also given and very worthwhile.
